Farmar’s Market – Lakers Jordan Farmar nets deal with New Jersey

It’s official Lakers fans, hometown favorite Jordan Farmar will not be coming back to Los Angeles.
Net Gain
Farmar has decided to take his game to the New Jersey Nets after garnering interest from both Indiana and Portland in free agency. At 3 years, $12 Million the contract is a good deal financially for both sides. Having missed out on Jordan, the Lakers now focus their attention on re-signing guards Derek Fisher and Shannon Brown.
New Jersey for Farmar
Farmar had expressed a desire to be a starting point guard in the NBA, and he knew he wouldn’t get that opportunity in a Lakers uniform. Unfortunately nobody told Jordan that the Nets already have a starting all-star point guard named Devin Harris, so it’s anybody guess as to how many minutes Farmar will see in New Jersey.
Best case scenario, Nets coach Avery Johnson takes a liking to Farmar’s defense and gives him extra minutes alongside Harris at the two-guard spot. If Harris does go down for an extended period, and given his injury history it’s very possible, Jordan may get his wish to start. Until then however, Farmar’s move from sunny L.A. where he grew up to New Jersey is a nose-scratcher.
